Chronic Diseases That You Have To Watch Out If You Suffer From Erectile Dysfunction

Do you have days that you are not totally in the mood to do anything? Well, when it comes to bedroom matters, men also have such days. The mind being the primary sex organ, emotions may take a toll on a man making it difficult for him to have and maintain an erection.

As much as Erectile Dysfunction (ED) becomes common as men age, it is mostly caused by a physical root. It may be difficult to open up and share with your doctor about an ED but be sure it is the best thing to do. It is better to deal with it at an early stage as it may a warning sign for other chronic diseases.

Worried that you might be suffering from ED? Below are some chronic diseases that you have to watch out for;

  1. Heart Disease

In most cases, ED precedes heart disease. The heart (being the organ that pumps blood in the body) is deeply connected to your sexual health. When the blood vessels narrow, they can narrow the supply of blood to the small arteries connected to the penis hence making it hard for the penis to be erect.

  1. Diabetes

Studies have shown that men with ED are most likely to have diabetes. When the body blood sugar is out of control, it causes nerve and blood vessel damage. Men’s arousal involves the nerves; meaning that if there is nerve damage it is difficult for a man to get an erection. On the other hand, the flow of blood to the penis are as well impaired if the blood vessels are damaged.

  1. Obesity

Obesity is a very sensitive topic to most men. When a man becomes extremely conscious about his overweight body, it affects his psychological side making it hard to be comfortable during sexual intercourse –hence ED. Physically; it is a bigger threat as it majorly contributes to clogging of blood vessels which end up not being able to supply enough blood to the penis. Also, obesity has an effect on the production of testosterone (male hormone) which may be a major cause of ED.

  1. High Blood Pressure/Hypertension

When the pressure in your arteries is higher than expected, it births high blood pressure. When the pressure is not controlled and remains high, it may end up hardening and damaging the arteries hence reducing the flow of blood in the penis.
